Captain Max started her sailing career in the Greek Islands. Sailing
with friends and a for hire captain, they explored the islands for
weeks. At the end of an idyllic vacation, she thought, "I could
do this". Once back in Manhattan, she went down to the waterfront and
asked to volunteer aboard the 70' yawl "Petrel". Here, she could earn
time on the water toward her license. Their response was "Great, you
can be the first woman captain in New York City", and she was..
Five years later she had her 100 ton USCG License and was busy sailing
in New York Harbor from April to October and the Caribbean in the winter.
It has been over twenty years now and Captain Max knows these waters and
the fish that swim in them. Over time some of the fish have become
personal friends, as well as some of her charter clients. Come join her
for a delightful sailing and snorkeling experience. Who knows, you could
make a friend for life.
Perhaps you are wondering how my boat got it's name?
Lou was my father, a boat man with 1,000 tall tales of the
sea. Happiness was being on the water with him, and my
family, going to Block Island or Cape Cod for summer
vacations. When I think of fun on the water, I think of
him.
